Terms of service, consumer rights, liability, and intellectual property.

Want A Service — Effective: September 10, 2026

Last updated: September 10, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Want A Service ("Platform," "we," "us," or "our"), you ("User," "Client," or "Provider") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Cancellation Policy, and all applicable federal and state laws. If you do not agree, you must immediately stop using the Platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use this Platform. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and are not barred from receiving services under any applicable law.

3. Nature of the Platform — Marketplace Only

Want A Service is a technology platform and online marketplace only. We do not provide services directly. All services are provided by independent, third-party service providers ("Providers"). Want A Service is NOT an employer, co-employer, staffing agency, or joint employer of any Provider. Providers are independent contractors solely responsible for the services they render.

3a. Payment Collection Agent & Fund Ownership

Want A Service acts solely as a limited payment collection agent on behalf of Providers. When a Client pays for a booking, Want A Service collects the total amount (service fee + platform fee) on the Provider's behalf and holds those funds as a bailee — NOT as Want A Service's own revenue or property. The service fee portion belongs to the Provider at all times; the platform fee portion is Want A Service's marketplace service charge. This structure means:

Clients and Providers acknowledge that this agency structure is reflected throughout the checkout flow, receipts, invoices, and accounting records. If any tax authority reclassifies a transaction, Want A Service will cooperate with Providers to provide accurate records, but the primary tax obligation for the service rests with the Provider as the supplier.

3b. Provider Tax & VAT Responsibilities

Providers are independent service providers and are responsible for determining, reporting, and paying any taxes, VAT, sales taxes, or other statutory obligations applicable to the services they provide, unless applicable law requires Want A Service to collect, withhold, or remit such amounts. Want A Service does not determine, advise on, or assume responsibility for a Provider's income tax, business tax, or VAT obligations.

This means that if a Provider earns income through the Platform, that income is the Provider's own business income. Want A Service does not act as the Provider's employer, tax agent, or accountant. Providers must:

Where a country or region imposes specific tax collection, withholding, or reporting obligations on marketplaces or platforms (for example, the EU's DAC7 reporting rules, marketplace VAT collection rules, or equivalent local legislation), Want A Service will comply with those obligations as required by law, and may collect additional information from Providers or adjust the checkout flow accordingly. Nothing in this section limits Want A Service's right to comply with its own statutory obligations where applicable law requires the Platform to collect, withhold, or remit amounts on behalf of Providers.

For tax queries relating to Provider earnings: Providers should consult a qualified tax advisor in their jurisdiction. Want A Service cannot provide tax advice.

4. User Accounts

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at our Contact form (/contact) if you suspect unauthorized account access.

5. Provider Listings & Accuracy

Providers are solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings. Want A Service does not endorse or certify any Provider's service quality. However, the platform does offer optional credential review: Providers may upload identity documents, licenses, and insurance certificates for admin review. When an admin has reviewed and confirmed a submitted credential, a verification badge (e.g. "ID Verified," "License Verified," "Insured") is displayed on the Provider's listing. These badges indicate that the platform has reviewed the uploaded document — they are not a guarantee of the Provider's competence, service quality, or reliability, and do not constitute an endorsement. Clients are encouraged to independently verify Provider credentials and exercise their own judgement.

5a. Two-Way Reviews

The Platform operates a two-way review system. After a booking is completed, the Client may rate and review the Provider, and the Provider may rate and review the Client. Reviews are public and contribute to each party's reputation on the Platform. A Provider's aggregate rating and review count are displayed on their listing and influence search ranking. A Client's rating from Providers is visible to Providers on future bookings. Reviews must be honest and based on genuine experiences — retaliatory, fraudulent, or paid reviews are prohibited and may be removed.

5b. Verified Reviews Only

Reviews on Want A Service are restricted to users who have a paid, completed booking with the Provider they are reviewing. Public or unverified reviews are not permitted. Each review is linked to a specific booking ID, and a "Verified" badge is displayed next to reviews from confirmed, paid bookings. Each user may submit only one review per Provider — duplicate reviews are blocked automatically.

Providers cannot delete or hide reviews on their listing, including negative ones. Instead, Providers may publicly reply to any review. If a review is fraudulent, abusive, or violates these Terms, any logged-in user may report it using the 'Report' button on the review. Reported reviews are reviewed by our team and may be removed if they violate policy. This moderation-based approach ensures reviews remain authentic while giving Providers a fair right of reply.

6. Prohibited Conduct

Users must not:

  • •Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings or reviews
  • •Circumvent the Platform to conduct off-platform transactions
  • •Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse other users
  • •Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
  • •Infringe any intellectual property rights
  • •Misrepresent identity, qualifications, or affiliations

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WANT A SERVICE'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL FEES YOU PAID IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS, OR (B) $100.00 USD.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Gauteng, South Africa.

10. Modifications

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated by email with 30 days' notice where required.

1. Statutory Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms, our Refund Policy, Cancellation Policy, or any other platform policy limits any statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded under the laws of your country of residence. Where local law provides greater protection than our standard policies, those local laws take precedence to the extent they cannot be excluded.

2. Cooling-Off Periods

Some jurisdictions — including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and certain U.S. states — provide consumers with a statutory "cooling-off" period during which they may cancel a contract for services without penalty. Where a non-waivable cooling-off right applies to your booking, Want A Service will honour that right regardless of the platform's standard cancellation policy.

3. Jurisdiction-Specific Rules

Want A Service operates globally. Consumer protection laws vary by country and region. Our cancellation and refund policies are designed to be fair and transparent, but they do not override non-waivable consumer protections in your jurisdiction. Examples include longer cancellation windows, mandatory refund rights, or restrictions on non-refundable fees.

4. How to Exercise Statutory Rights

If you believe a statutory consumer right applies to your situation, contact us at our Contact form (/contact) with your booking reference and the specific right you wish to exercise. We will review your request in accordance with the applicable laws of your jurisdiction.

5. No Waiver

Our policies do not constitute a waiver of any non-excludable consumer rights you may have under applicable law. If any provision of our policies is found to be unenforceable or invalid under local law, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
